Washing machine repairs Dandenong
Does your washing machine repairs Dandenong not spin and also make a noise? Typically, this problem is a bad motor coupler. It’s, a two-dollar piece: it’s, really easy to fix. I’m gonna show. You how to fix it today, I’m gonna be working on a Kenmore, but this also applies to the whirlpool, and pretty much any washer is going to be the same process.
What we’re gonna do is we’re gonna go underneath there’s? No need to take off any panels or anything you go right underneath it.
So I’m gonna pull this out and then tilt it upwards. So here all the tools you’re gonna need, you might not need the rubber mallet. It depends on how hard your coupler is to get on. I’ll. Show you all that later on, you got your part.
Using that’s, the part number flat-head screwdriver and a ratchet with a one-quarter-inch socket. Let’s begin. So all we’re gonna do. Is we’re going to tilt this? I’m gonna use a jack stand just to keep it tilted, make sure you unplug, the electricity for the washer machine might also consider shutting off the water to the hot in the cold water.
We’re, not going to do anything with the hot and cold water, but just to be safe, so you don’t spring a leak or something so now with it unplugged we’ll go underneath you can see. This is the pump. This right here is the motor and then between the motor and the transmission is the coupler and what you’re gonna do.
Is you’re, just gonna spin it by hand? In this case, I don’t? Really have to spin it very far. You can see right there, it’s, broken it’s designed to break so you don’t damage your motor. You no damage the transmission.
If there’s too much of a load, they also break because they get old and brittle it’s a $ 2.00 part. It’s a five-minute job. Let me show you how to replace it now that we identified that’s, the problem.
This is the first thing we’re, going to take off it’s, really simple Washing machine repairs Dandenong. There’s, two metal Clips there’s, one here that pops off like that, and then there’s, one up here, just pops off with a finger. Then you just wiggle this loose and move it off to the side.
You can see that there’s some dust around here, and I recommend that you vacuumed that out so the same process that we took off this pump here. With these clips, we’re gonna have to take off these clips that hold in the motor there’s.
One down washing machine repairs Dandenong here and there’s one up here and then this is a quarter. Inch socket loosens it up. Let’s. One get this top one up here. That’s. Two now that these two are unscrewed, we’re, just getting a flathead screwdriver and we’re going to just pop each clip out got the bottom one out do the same thing for the top clip.
Now your motor is free to get pulled out, it’s, heavy, be careful and just set that down, so the motor is out and you can see it couples right in there and we look here. This is the piece that’s. Broken so just take it off, and then that’ll come right out, so you could take this.
This is garbage. If you want, you could keep the one that is intact just in case, you want an extra part if it breaks and you could fix it on the fly. While you get your parts ordered since this is still good.
I’m, replacing everything, but in my case, this piece is still good and this piece is still good, so I’m gonna keep it for spare parts. This is the piece that broke and that’s. Why? You heard all that clanking and clicking so here’s, the nice new one.
All it does is slide right on here. It only fits in one way: it doesn’t matter which side you use so just slide that on there should be a pretty tight, fit good. And then, when you look on here, there’s, no space for it to slide in anymore, so to make it easier for yourself just take out this plastic piece here on the coupler that comes out make sure the black piece is seated all the Way just press down on it and we’re gonna take this, I’m gonna go in here.
We’re gonna push this on, so just press this all the way down. Okay with that pushed all the way in, we could connect the motor if this is hard to push in or if this is hard to push in, you could use a rubber, mallet and just lightly tap it.
Don’t, go crazy. You don’t want to break this, but that little extra tapping really does help push this in. It is a pretty tight fit. So this is pushed all the way in when this is basically flush and if you look at the side view there’s, no extra space to push this in so that’s.
How you know it’s all the way in to make this easy align it. So the top peg is at the 12 o’clock position, and these two pegs are at the bottom and we’re gonna. Do the same here, the hole for the top peg will be at the 12 o’clock position, and that should allow us to slide this in really easily one of our metal Clips did pop out before so.
To put that in all, you do is find that slot in there and after you find the slot, stick it in and turn it and that’s in so don’t worry. If these things pop out now, we’re gonna get our motor to remember.
It goes in just like this. That white piece is on the bottom here, and the wiring harness is on the side. You’re gonna have to use it both hands because it is pretty heavy and just turn the motor a little bit to get it in place and wiggle it, and there we go just locked into place.
So now that our motors in we have this clip here – and we have a clip up here – so we’re gonna – do the top first cuz it’s, a lot easier. You just tilt the motor back like that. That’ll clip in now. We let go the motor and then now the bottom one will go in a lot easier.
It’s, a lot easier to do the top first in the bottom. Second good now the motor is locked in. Remember we have these two screws that need to go in tighten the bottom one. First, it doesn’t really matter at this point.
Just tighten them both down you, don’t have to go super tight, just snug them up. That’s perfect. We got that second one up here and just snug it down. Just like that again, don’t make these super tight.
Then the last thing we have to do is we have to slide this onto that piece. Right there, you might have to align it. Well, see if this just fits on, give it a little twist off there. You go it actually wasn’t lined if it’s not aligned just twist it a little bit to get it aligned.
That goes in like that. Now, these clips fell out before, and putting them in will be the same as the other clips. It’s, just a t-shaped piece that you push in and then twists. So you just find the hole here, push it in twist it, and then this will snap onto here just like so and the same thing for the back one.
You know just feel around for the hole holes right there put it in a twist it and get that on everything’s locked in just gives it a little shake to make sure it feels solid. Everything should feel solid.
Now I can remove our jack stand slowly tilt this down, and now we’re gonna give it a shot to see if it works. Okay, now we’ll plug it back in we’ll test it out see if it works. Also, don’t forget if you shut these off turning them back on and it works.
So now you can just push the washer back and you’re good to go and that’s. How you replace a motor coupler on your washing machine cost. You two bucks, nice and easy to do, takes ten minutes max the top tip for this video.
Are you see this one right here this hose? That goes all the way down that’s. Your water exhaust hose that’s where the water drains after you’re done washing. Make sure that you do not pull the washing machine out too far, because if you do that happens and then water starts shooting out.
As you can tell that’s, what happened to me keep an eye on this don’t. Let there be too much tension on this. Otherwise, water will get all over your floor and just to make sure that that problem, doesn’t happen again.
Don’t let it pull out too far, but also you can use the pliers and make sure that the hose is pushed all the way down, and this clamp is on there. Good
